April 11

It was a beautiful day today. Temp. around 60 degrees. This afternoon students in grades 7 - 12 traveled to Neche to fill sandbags there. Due to ice jams the water has risen rapidly in the Neche area.

The Pembina flood committee met today. Things have slowed down, we're in "wait and see" mode. Dike patrols will begin when the river reaches 48 feet.  (It's at 45.7 feet today)

This large group of students made short work of the sand piles.
There was a little fun mixed in with the work for these two.

April 10

It's raining a little here today. The Red is at 45 ft. There was a Tele-Conference with the NWS this afternoon. They are expecting warmer, drier weather for the next week.

The Pembina River at Neche is suppose to reach 21-22 ft. sometime this week and the Red River at Pembina is expected to reach 52 - 54 feet by the last week in April.

We had a little bit of rain today. We drove around town after work to take some pictures. The river is at 43.5 ft tonight.

A tree is caught on the Pembina River bridge on it's way north.

Hauling dirt and clay  to close the road at the north end of 3rd St. The road will be left open for a few more days.

The fired department's air boat was recently painted and is ready for service.

April 6

Today the NB Pembina students and staff, city employees and a couple volunteers filled almost 4000 sandbags in a little over 2 hours. The bags were then moved to a warehouse for dry storage until they are needed. It was a beautiful day to be outside! The crew did a great job!

Sandbag Central on the school parking lot.

Everyone had their job.
Finishing off the pallet.
Deanna and Lisa were our lift operators.
A little more than half done.

The river was at 41.85 ft. this afternoon. The flood committee will meet again Friday afternoon at 4:30.

April 3

We got a call today to put some additional sandbags on the culvert near the boat dock. (The dock is to the left in the first picture).

We had some rain last night and snow this morning. The temp. this afternoon was 33 degrees so the snow is melting and the streets are slushy.

April 2

Today 10 men worked at the golf course removing the covers from the greens and moving carts, mowers and equipment to safer ground.

The weatherman is predicting snow for us tomorrow. We're waiting to see how much we'll get and wondering if spring will ever get here.

Ken gathered this information about past flood levels so I thought I'd share.
